Part 1
The Window: Bk 1 the fall

Anna slumped in her chair. She was at school in her last class. They were on the ninth floor, in spanish. Loud chatter filled the room as the teacher handed out books.
She looked out the window it was nice day, birds soaring over the tall buildings, cars waiting in traffic. Only one street was vacant, Next to a tall hotel. Anna let her eyes wander up the building she counted 18 floors.
She saw a tall siloute in the top floor. She watched it move past each window and it eventualy stopped in the  2nd to last. Another figure appeared and they seemed to be talking. Then the shorter one moved to away to the first window. The taller one followed. She saw them throw there hands around. She guessed they could be fighting.
The taller one struck the other across the face. The short one quickly moved to the other window and seemed to be rushed. Her gaze wandered back to the first figure it saw something in it's hand Long, pointy, -a knife?
The shorter figure left to the stircase. She saw it struggle with a door as the big one caught up. She saw the large caged area on the roof. A part of the white surface opened and a slender figure appeared. She had shoulder langth strawberry blonde hair and was wearing a white knee length sweater. She had light brown pants on and a terrified look plaster on her soft face.
She saw the taller figure imerge. It was a tall man wearing a long black coat. He had a rather John travolta look to him, the had the black hair and a pale face. The knife shone in the sunlight, as the woman backed to the edge of the caged area. They're mouths were moving then the most peculiar thing happened, the woman pointed at her. The man glared at her, and Anna looked down was something wrong with her?
Then a truck pulled up and the man looked away from her and down the truck.
Then the woman lost her footing and fell over the edge. She dropped motionless into the truck.
"NO!!!" Anna screamed and stood up.
"Anna?" the teacher looked at her and she felt everyones eyes in her direction. Her face grew hot and she looked back out the window the man jumped after her and landed nicely in the truck. He climbed in the passanger seat and he truck dissapeared from veiw.
Anna glanced around nervously and ran out of the room. Anna ran to the bathroom and locked herself in a stall, rocking nervously back an fourth.

Anna walked down the empty staircase after school. Everyone was getting on buses. She had waited out the last hour of class in the bathroom. She slid down the banister and saw the man outside. Her hear. Skipped a beat and she snuck out in a mass of highschoolers.
She raced to the busway and hopped on a city bus. A 6th grader alone on a public buss might be weird but she didn want to die like that woman. Anna sat in the back of the bus she heard the engine start and looked out the window to see the man signaling a taxi. She watched the taxi follow the bus all the way to her stop.
Anna ripped open her backpack and pulled out a sharpened pencil. She got off the buss and cruched thru the leaves. She heard a echoing pair of footsteps and walked faster. She picked up some buckeyes and she walked down the street behind hers. She finnaly stopped half way. And turned around the man was rigt behind her! She stabbed the pencil into his stomach and through the buckeyes at his face. She saw him struggle to pull out the pencil. Anna ran as if her life depended on it, because it did.
Finnaly she spotted a warn down spot in the bushes and hopped over it. Her new blue jeans caught on a sharp pice of wire, she was stuck! She dumped her backpack and tugge don her leg, finally it ripped giving her a chance to escape.
She ran quickly looking behind her. He man appreared the bloody pencil in his bloody hand, his clothes were soaked in blood. He smiled and just passed by the gap. Anna Was confuzzled the she tripped over a brick on the edge of her neigbors unfilled swimming pool.
she shrieked looking down on the puddle of rain water filled with dead leaves. She felt a hard splash, and everything went black.
Anna awoke she ached all overand was cold and wet. She dragged herself to the shallow end of the pool and crawled slowly up the ladder. She lumbered to her home one house back. She entered and called to her nanny, Claire.
Anna walked into her living room and found it empty. Claire always said in case of emergency there would be a note behind the fridge.
Anna crawled up on the counter and felt around the back. She felt a sharp edge and pulled. She pulled out her hand covered in dust, along with it was a new sheet of paper.
Anna slowly unfolded it, lip quivering. She opened it and read;

Anna a man came. He told me I would have to leave immediately or he would remove me Him self. I've left $70 under the bed and the pantrys are still full of food. I don't know where I'm going but I can't come back. Anna, I'm sorry.

Anna let tears slip down her dirty face. She changed and pulled on a nice jacket she peeked into claires room it was empty and bare. She let more tears fall, Claire was the only one she had. She was adopted, intact she was given up when she was born.
After Anna was completely clean she packed nesecery things. She looked at the house behind hers and hopped over the fence. It was empty as perusal. Anna hopped down by one of the basement windows and knelt down, searching through the leaves. When she was younger she hid a house key here.
"Yes!" Anna whispered and held up the rusty key. She pulled herself out and opened the front door, she looked around making sure there was no one watching. She slipped in and ran to the upstairs. The place was a dust factory! Anna entered a bedroom with a queen bed. There was a puddle of sunlight on the faded pink sheets of the bed. It had a little lounging chair in the corner, two full, dusty, bookshelves and two doors. She pulled one open. It was a big empty closet, it had selves and a bar for hanging stuff up. Anna opened the other. It led to a big white, not to mention dusty, bathroom. It had a bath shower a nice big sink some old towels and a big window.
She went back to the room and there was a note on the bed. Anna gasped, someone was here! She went to pick it up and as she put her hand down it disappeared. Anna fell backwards on the bed letting out a sigh of relief.

Later that night Anna was in the room cross legged on the bed reading an old magazine. The room was all lit up and still slightly dusty, but now she felt right at home. She picked up another cookie and heard a crack of lightning. Closed the magazine and walked over to the old window. It was a dark and everything was a watery blur. He pouring rain flooded the streets Anna shivered and pulled her coat closed.
She turned around and the man was right there, In her room, Looking, at her.

Anna shrieked and her eyes shot open. Just a bad dream, good. It was all just a bad bad dream.

"hello anna." a deep voice spoke behind her.
"Ahhhhh!" Anna she sat up and ran down the stairs she raced into the dull kitchen and desparetly searched for escape. She yanked at a low cabinet. She ducked under and the door closed with a snap.
Heavy footsteps slowly made their way around the tile floor. Anna shook, she was breathing slowly, scared. She gasped everytime a door door banged. They got closer and closer, she pulled her knees in close as the one next to hers slammed shut. She heard the squeak of his leather jacket as he bent over to reveal her spot. Liently she praye to god this was another dream.
The clink if rings against metal made Anna stop breathing the door opened a sliver. She squeazed her eyes shut to make it all go away.

There was a several loud bangs at the door and he door stopped opening. Her eyes flew open the door in front of her slammed shut and the footsteps exit the room: she slithered out of the tight hidding spot and she crawled into the living room. She got a glimpse of the man talking to a fat guy at the door. She crawled slowly to another door. She turned her head whacking the two men talking and put another hand down on ...nothing! she tumbled down he steps and landed flat on her back, the wind knocked out of her. She lay there flat on the landing looking up at the ceiling trying to regain her breath. She heard the footsteps come by the door she rooled over to the WRONG side and found herself tumbling down the stairs AGIAN.

Anna groaned in pain. She heard voices but couldn't lift her legs. She pulled herself across the cold, concrete, floor with her elbows. She heard the stairs creek, Someone was coming!!!! Anna dragged herself under the dusty stairs. She watched the two me slowly carefully pick their way down. She watched he mens feet as they stepped right over her.

"c'mon, this is pointless." the fat man said. They both left, taking one last glance the mystery man closed the door.
